Greyhounds Sweep Minnesota-Morris to Stretch Winning Streak to Five at RussMatt Invitational
AUBURNDALE, Fla. --- The Moravian University baseball team rallied from a two-run, seventh-inning deficit in the first game on the way to a sweep of the University of Minnesota-Morris in a non-conference doubleheader at RussMatt Invitational Tuesday, winning 13-12 and 15-0.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning in the opener
- The Greyhounds countered with five runs in the bottom of the first to move ahead 5-3. Freshman right fielder Jack Cappo led off with a single before sophomore center fielder Luke Keitsock and sophomore left fielder Troy Rabosky walked to load the bases. Cappo raced home on a wild pitch before sophomore third baseman Emit Budick ripped a two-RBI double to score Keitsock and Rabosky. Sophomore shortstop David Vozzo followed with an RBI double as Budick touched the plate, and Vozzo scored on an RBI sacrifice fly by junior designated hitter David Rodriguez
- Minnesota-Morris pulled within a run at 5-4 with a single run in the top of the third frame
- The Blue & Grey pushed two runs home in the bottom of the third to stretch the edge to 7-4. Senior first baseman Sean Superka singled while sophomore catcher Ronnie Werkheiser was hit by a pitch and sophomore second baseman Owen Ness singled to load the bases. Keitsock connected on an RBI sacrifice fly to score Superka while Werkheiser raced home on an RBI single from Rabosky
- The Cougars scored five runs in the top of the fourth to retake a 9-7 advantage
- The Hounds got a run back in bottom of the fifth as Werkheiser doubled and scored on an RBI groundout by Keitsock
- Minnesota-Morris plated a pair of runs in the top of the sixth for an 11-8 lead
- Moravian countered again with two runs in the home half of the sixth to get within a run at 11-10. Budick, Rodriguez and Superka were all hit by pitches to load the bases before Werkheiser hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score Budick. Ness added an RBI single to chase Rodriguez home
- The Cougars made it a 12-10 game with a run in the top of the seventh
- The Greyhounds scored three times in the bottom of the seventh for the walk off win. Keitsock led off with a single while Rabosky was hit by a pitch. Vozzo connected on an RBI single to score Keitsock. Junior pinch hitter Matt Westcott drew a walk to load the bases before Superka was hit by a pitch to bring in Rabosky in with the tying run. Vozzo raced home with the winning run on a wild pitch
- Freshman Chris Whalen made the start on the mound for the Blue & Grey, and he had six strikeouts in three innings of work. Sophomore EJ Youngling had one strikeout in a third of an inning while freshman Sean Heissler posted a pair of strikeouts in 1.2 innings of action. Senior Max Sponeheimer recorded one strikeout in 1.1 innings while junior Wes Griffith tossed the final two-thirds of an inning for the win
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Hounds opened the scoring in the second game with a run in the top of the first inning. Keitsock doubled and Rabosky singled before Superka connected on an RBI sacrifice fly
- Moravian scored twice in the top of the second for a 3-0 edge. Vozzo led off with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch before racing home on an RBI sacrifice fly by Westcott. Sophomore second baseman singled and reached third on a pair of passed balls before scoring on a failed pickoff attempt
- The Blue & Grey pushed in eight runs in the top of the third for an 11-0 advantage. Rabosky, Superka and Vozzo all hit singles to load the bases before Westcott drew an RBI walk to push Rabosky home. Superka raced home on an error while Vozzo and Westcott touched the plate on a two-RBI single by Ness. Cappo ripped a two-RBI double to bring in Jones and Ness while Keitsock added an RBI double to score Cappo. After a Rabosky walk and Superka single, Vozzo was hit by a pitch to push Keitsock home with the last run of the inning
- The Greyhounds scored three times in the top of the fourth to make it 14-0. Whalen, who caught the second game, led off with a single and Ness also singled before Cappo connected on another two-RBI double to score Whalen and Ness. Once again, Keitsock followed with an RBI double as Cappo raced home
- Moravian finished off the scoring with a run in the top of the seventh inning. Freshman Nick Mancini led off with a pinch hit single, and he scored on an RBI groundout by Jones
- Junior Nate McBride made the start on the mound and had eight strikeouts in six innings of action. Junior Ryan Hoffman tossed the final inning as posted their third combined shutout in five games
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian recorded 29 hits in the doubleheader with Vozzo going 4-for-6 with four runs, three RBIs and a pair of doubles
- Rabosky, Ness and Superka all had 4-for-6 days with Rabosky adding three runs and an RBI, Ness contributing three RBIs and two runs and Superka posting two runs, two RBIs and a double
- Keitsock was 4-for-7 with four runs, four RBIs and three doubles while Cappo went 3-for-8 with three runs, four RBIs and a pair of doubles
- Whalen collected two hits and a run while Budick posted two runs, two RBIs and a double
