Student-Athlete Spotlight: Jack DiCesare – The Selfless Teammate Behind Team Success

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- On any prosperous team, there are players whose impact goes far beyond statistics. For this first baseman at Moravian University, success is not measured by individual numbers, but by the success of the team as a whole.
Jack DiCesare has embraced a selfless role within the baseball program, focusing on doing whatever the team needs from him at any given time.
Whether that means stepping onto the field, working hard in practice, keeping energy high in the dugout, or helping behind the scenes with athletics communications and broadcasting, he has made it clear that the team always comes first.
"I just want to do whatever I can to help the team win," DiCesare said. "It's not really about me or my stats. If the team is winning and we're playing well, that's all that matters."
That mindset is not always easy for athletes, especially in a sport where individual performance is often heavily measured. But DiCesare understands that strong teams are built on players who accept and embrace their roles.
"Everyone on the team has a role, and every role is important," he said. "Even if you're not in the lineup, you can still make a big impact by being a good teammate and working hard every day."
His approach highlights something often overlooked in sports: teams are not only built by star players, but also by players who create a positive culture, push their teammates in practice, and stay ready when their opportunity comes. Those players help build the foundation of a successful program.
"I just try to stay ready all the time," DiCesare said. "You never know when your name is going to be called, so you have to prepare like you're playing every game."
DiCesare also contributes to Moravian athletics outside of baseball through his involvement with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and by helping with game broadcasts and athletic communications.
His willingness to be involved in multiple areas shows his commitment not just to baseball, but to Moravian athletics as a whole.
"I like being involved and helping out however I can," he said. "Whether it's baseball, SAAC, or calling games, I just like being around athletics and being part of the team."
Being a selfless player does not always show up in the box score, but it often shows up in team chemistry, culture, and success. Players like DiCesare help create an environment where teammates support each other, work hard, and stay focused on the bigger picture.
"We have a really close team," DiCesare said. "Everyone supports each other and wants to see the team succeed. That's what makes it fun to be part of this program."
While some players are recognized for their statistics or big moments in games, DiCesare represents another kind of value: the teammate who puts the program first, embraces his role, and contributes in ways that make the entire team better.
And for Moravian baseball, that kind of selflessness is a crucial part of building a successful team.
