Moravian Wins Third Straight with Victory over Mt. St. Mary
AUBURNDALE, Fla. --- The Moravian University baseball squad earned its third straight win at the RussMatt Invitational with a 16-9 victory over Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) College at Lake Myrtle Park Monday.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Sophomore third baseman Emit Budick and sophomore shortstop David Vozzo both had singles with Budick racing home on an RBI single from junior designated hitter David Rodriguez
- The Blue & Grey pushed the edge to 2-0 with a run in the top of the third. Sophomore second baseman Owen Ness was hit by a pitch to lead off, and he stole second base before scoring on an error
- Moravian tacked on three more runs in the top of the fourth frame to stretch the advantage to 5-0. Senior first baseman Sean Superka walked, and Rodriguez was hit by a pitch before sophomore catcher Ronnie Werkheiser put down a sacrifice bunt. Ness drew a walk to load the bases before a walk to freshman right fielder Jack Cappo pushed Superka home. Sophomore left fielder Troy Rabosky connected on a two-out, two RBI single to bring in Rodriguez and Ness
- The Knights got onto the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Hounds' edge to 5-2
- Moravian answered back in the top of the sixth inning with six runs to push the advantage to 11-2. Ness led off the frame with a walk before Cappo singled and sophomore center fielder Luke Keitsock was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Rabosky was also hit by a pitch as Ness trotted home while Vozzo had a walk to score Keitsock and Superka drew a walk to bring in Rabosky. Rodriguez added an RBI single to score Budick while Werkheiser was hit by a pitch as Vozzo scored. Ness connected on an RBI single that pushed Superka home
- The Greyhounds added a pair of runs in the top of the seventh for a 13-2 lead. Vozzo doubled with two outs, and Superka followed with a single before Rodriguez ripped a two-RBI double to score Vozzo and Superka
- Mount St. Mary pushed four runs across the plate in the bottom of the seventh to cut the deficit to 13-6
- The Blue & Grey registered a run in the top of the eighth as Ness singled, stole second and raced home on an RBI single from Rabosky to make it 14-6
- The Knights scored once in the bottom of the eighth to set the score at 14-7
- In the ninth, Werkheiser, Ness and Cappo all drew walks to load the bases before an error on a ball hit by Keitsock allowed Werkheiser to score. Ness scampered home on a wild pitch to push the advantage to 16-7
- Mt. St. Mary scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to finish off the game
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian collected 14 hits in the game with Rodriguez going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, a double and a run
- Ness posted a 2-for-2 game with five runs and an RBI while Vozzo was 2-for-4 with two runs, a double and an RBI
- Rabosky knocked out two hits to go with four RBIs and a run while Budick had two hits and scored tice
- Superkas crossed the plate three times to go with a hit and an RBI while Cappo added a hit and an RBI and Keitsock contributed a hit, a run and an RBI
- Werkheiser had a run and an RBI in the contest
- Sophomore Andrew Sagrestano made the start on the mound, and he recorded five strikeouts in six innings of action. Junior Ben Cogar pitched a third of an inning while junior Rocco Viscito tossed two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout. Junior Caden Ward and freshman Sean Heisler each pitched one inning
