Greyhounds Fall to Catholic in Landmark Conference Semifinals

How It Happened
- The Cardinals scored the first two goals of the contest before sophomore attack Faith Mahoskey found the net off a pass from junior midfielder Bailey Leatherman to get the Hounds on the scoreboard. Catholic added another goal to lead 3-1 after 15 minutes of play
- Leatherman scored two minutes into the second quarter off a feed from Mahoskey to pull the Blue & Grey within a goal. However, the Cardinals ran off four consecutive goals to run the advantage out to 7-2. With just over three minutes left in the half, graduate student midfielder Kerry Seiler scored with a pass from sophomore midfielder Kathryn Hunsinger to cut the deficit to 7-3. Sophomore Ella Steirer added a goal with 1:25 on the clock off an assist from Hunsinger to pull Moravian within 7-4 at the intermission
- Catholic netted the first goal of the second half five minutes into the third quarter. Seiler scored about five minutes later while the Cardinals answered a minute later. Seiler netted another goal with just under two minutes to play in the quarter while Catholic found the net with 18 seconds left to lead 10-6 after 45 minutes of action
- The Cardinals pushed the advantage to 11-6 just 31 seconds into the fourth quarter. Steirer scored off a pass from Hunsinger with 8:51 on the clock while Hunsinger found the net a minute and a half later off an assist from junior attack Melissa Elefonte. Mahoskey put a pass from Hunsinger into the net with 4:38 to go as Moravian pulled within two at 11-9. Catholic scored twice in the final 1:40 to seal the match
- When the teams played in the regular season, the Cardinals won by 16 goals, 20-4 after outscoring the Blue & Grey 12-0 in the second half
- The Greyhounds finish the season at 13-6, a program record for wins in a season, and the 19 matches are the most played by a Moravian squad in a season
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had six players collect points led by Seiler, who had a hat trick to go along with seven draw controls, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers
- Mahoskey contributed two goals and an assist while Steirer had two goals
- Hunsinger recorded a goal, four assists and two draw controls while Leatherman added a goal and an assist
- Elefonte posted an assist while sophomore defender Mia Faisetty scooped up three ground balls and sophomore defender Alanna McBrearty caused a pair of turnovers
- Sophomore goalie Lily Parker registered 12 saves to go with four ground balls
