Greyhounds Top DeSales for Graham’s First Career Victory & Elefonte Surpasses 100 Points
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s lacrosse team snapped a 6-6 tie late in the third quarter with three straight goals as the Greyhounds topped DeSales University, 13-11, in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Wednesday to give Head Coach Morgan Graham her first career wiin.

How It Happened
- The Bulldogs opened the scoring just 1:26 into the match, and DeSales scored again to lead 2-0 at the 8:35 mark. Sophomore attack Faith Mahoskey got the Hounds onto the scoreboard with 5:56 left in the first period off of a pass from junior attack Melissa Elefonte as Elefonte became the 15th player in program history to reach 100 career points. Sophomore midfielder Ella Steirer and graduate student midfielder Kerry Seiler both scored on free position attempts to put the Blue & Grey on top, and Elefonte made it 4-2 with a goal at the 2:28 mark
- DeSales needed just 21 seconds of the second quarter to get within a goal while freshman midfielder Cora Sollenberger scored a minute later to put Moravian up 5-3. The Bulldogs countered with three straight markers for a 6-5 edge while Elefonte found the net off a pass from junior midfielder Bailey Leatherman with 1:05 left in the half to send the squads into the intermission tied at 6-6
- Elefonte completed her hat trick 57 seconds into the third period with a woman-up goal before DeSales countered with two goals for an 8-7 lead with 6:56 left in the quarter. Steirer tied the match with a goal while Seiler scored on another free position attempt with 1:28 to go in the period as the Greyhounds took the lead for good at 8-7
- Seiler also scored in the first minute of the fourth quarter for a 10-8 advantage. After DeSales scored, Sollenberger and Mahoskey netted back-to-back goals to stretch the edge to 12-9. Sollenberger added an insurance goal between two tallies from the Bulldogs to complete her hat trick
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had six players record points in the match with Elefonte netting three goals to go with an assist
- Seiler and Sollenberger both had three goals with Sollenberger adding four draw controls and Seiler contributing three draw controls and a pair of ground balls
- Mahoskey and Steirer each found the net twice while Leatherman had an assist to go with five draw controls
- Sophomore goalie Lily Parker registered 12 saves to go with a pair of ground balls in her first victory for the Greyhounds
- Junior midfielder Reagan Reiner scooped up three ground balls while sophomore midfielder Kathryn Hunsinger posted three draw controls
- The Hounds had a 17-9 advantage in draw controls and were 16-for-18 on clearing attempts
